PLACES TO SEE - THINGS TO DO

Algar Waterfalls - This is a beauty spot with riverside, walks and bathing in its various pools and waterfalls. 35 Km from Calpe

Alicante - situated in a bay closed in to the north by Cabo Las Huertas and in the south by Cabo Santa Pola, enjoys pleasant temperatures all year round. The Iglesia de Santa Maria is in the square of the same name and is one of the city's most famous monuments. The Castillo de Santa Barbara, is also worth visiting. The Castillo comprises three different enclosures each at different heights on the bare rock. The lower enclosure dates from the Bourbon era, the middle precinct from the sixteenth century and the upper is part of the site of the original fortress.

Altea Hills Marina - enjoy a walk around the Marina and see some of the biggest luxury yachts on the Costa Blanca. Join the N-332 near Calpe and head towards Altea. Try the many bars and restaurants where you can enjoy a meal or a drink.

Benidorm - Fine sandy beaches and wonderful climate make Benidorm popular all year round. Don't be put off by its overly touristy reputation. Its Arab heritage, found in the old part of the town made up of a series of narrow streets leading down to the sea, is well worth exploring.

Guadalest Monastery - Fortified monastery in Guadalest, From Calpe take the road to Alcoy over Callosa.

Limon Express Benidorm - Gata de Gorgos- runs a restored 1930's fleet of coaches. The line is one of the most scenic and runs alongside golden beaches. One of the quaint stations even doubles as a beach bar in the summer.

The Train provides a five-hour journey through Benidorm, Altea, Calpe and Teulada. A particular advantage is the opportunity to see places of natural beauty that are difficult to reach. The Train stops at Gata de Gorgos where passengers can visit a guitar factory to see typical handicraft. Heading back, South, passengers enjoy the beautiful west Mediterranean landscape whilst sparkling wine is served.

Prehistoric Cave - The Caves of Canelobre, situated 60 Km from Calpe, at a height of 700mts. have got one of the highest vaults in all Spain, in many respects a natural cathedral.
